Camp a Low Hum 2024 - Weekend one
Camp A Low Hum (CALH) is (was) a music festival that ran from 2004 to 2014. I was lucky enough to go to the 2013 and 2014 CALH, and then it just stopped.
Fast forward 10 years, past kids, jobs, global pandemics and I hear that camp is coming back, for one last* time.
The 2024 CALH had massive demand when it was announced, so it was split over two weekends, February 15-18 for weekend one and Feb 22-25 for weekend two. I went to the first one.
The weather this year was perfect - only very light rain one morning and perfect weather for the rest. This was in stark contrast to 2014 when we were rained on heavily for almost the entirety of camp.
This isn't a review - I have so many thoughts on CALH and love it immensely, but anything I write just won't to it justice. There are better reviews out there:
- Camp A Low Hum 2024: The final weekend(s) - Newzician.co.nz
- Ouch, my back and heart: A review of Camp A Low Hum 2024 -thespinoff.co.nz
*I say last, because that is what it was announced as. Blink has since said there might be another one, at some point in the future - maybe around 2027. If there is, I'll be there again.

I've put together a Camp A LOW Hum 2024 spotify playlist of some bands I saw and enjoyed over the weekend - there are lot of bands I really enjoyed that don't have records yet or don't have them on spotify, so this isn't an exhaustive list - but it'll give you a good taste. You can see the playlist here:

Cleaning 21 years of messy music data
Twenty-one years of band names typed by hand leaves a fossil record of human inconsistency. Here's what it took to tidy up the Matinee Idle archive.

Twenty-One Years of Weird, Wonderful Music: and What the Data Says
A love letter to Matinee Idle, a cult radio show, and the rabbit hole it sent me down. With 21 years of archive data, 15,411 songs, and one very strange most-played track.
